St. Cloud Apollo at Sartell-St. Stephen

Defending Class 1A state champion St. Cloud Apollo has played in two one-goal games thus far, and the Eagles have scored 48 goals this season with half coming in a 15-0 rout of Fergus Falls and a 9-2 win over Brainerd.

St. Cloud Apollo (7-1, 4-1) got its biggest test of the season Sept. 17 against St. Cloud Tech. The Eagles lost 4-2 but followed the defeat with a 5-0 victory over St. Cloud Cathedral on Sept. 19.

Suleimon Ali has seven goals and five assists for No. 2-1A St. Cloud Apollo. Abdinajib Yussuf has tallied six goals while Leighton Lommel has five goals and 12 assists. Abass Mohamed has five goals and five assists and five others have three goals for the Eagles.

Sartell-St. Stephen (5-1-2, 4-1-1) can make things interesting in the Central Lakes Conference with a win over St. Cloud Apollo. The Sabres have one conference loss (to St. Cloud Tech) and are battling the Eagles for the top spot in the league standings.

Kempton Schneider leads Sartell-St. Stephen with seven goals and Cullen Chisholm has five.

St. Cloud Apollo beat Sartell-St. Stephen 3-0 in last year’s Class 1A, Section 8 championship.
