Wayzata at Hopkins
3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12

The Lake Conference schedule kicks off in earnest this week and with it comes tough matchups for No. 7-2A Wayzata, including Saturday's game against Hopkins.

The Trojans (1-1-2) recorded 1-1 ties with both Mounds View and St. Louis Park before getting their first win with a 2-0 victory over Bloomington Jefferson. Wayzata also lost to Minneapolis South 2-1 in overtime.

Maclane King has provided the offense, scoring a goal in each of the Trojans' first three games. Troy Louwagie, meanwhile, is making the case for why he should be considered one of the state's best goalie.

Wayzata had a 4-2-2 mark in the Lake Conference last year and finished second in the league standings behind No. 1 Minnetonka, which went 6-0-2 in conference games.

Hopkins finished 0-5-3 in the Lake last season, including a 0-0 draw with the Trojans. The Royals have started this season 2-2 following a 3-2 overtime win at Burnsville and a 3-2 win at Buffalo.

Nico Soffer had two goals and Andy Berris had one against the Blaze, who rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to win. Brandon Speich also has a goal in Hopkins' 3-1 loss to St. Louis Park.
