M.A. survives round one.

The head of Michael LeGrand provided the golden goal for the Redhawks in overtime at home against Richfield.  Fed in from a corner off the foot of Charlie Gibbons, the goal gave the host team a win after a very chaotic game.

After a scoreless first half, the Redhawks put a goal into the net within a minute of the second half on a beautiful cross from Jeremy Nasafalu to Jack Blodgett who put it away with skill; but after that moment, the Redhawks seemed to lose control and Richfield was able to put the equalizer in with four minutes to play.

Now Minnehaha waits to see who they play next.  Holy Angels is hosting Bethany at 7pm tonight.  Either way M.A. will next play Thursday 10/13.

Up next: Richfield on Guido Kauls Field 10/11 timeTBD

The section seeds are in and Minnehaha's potential road to state is paved fully with teams that they have matched with this season already.  If the victories go according to seed Minnehaha would face, in this order: Richfield, Holy Angels, DeLaSalle and finally S.P.A.

There is no predicting outcomes of games; but it is certainly an advantage for the Redhawks, should they follow seed as they have first hand knowledge on all of these great schools.

First team up however: Richfield.   Minnehaha Academy will host the game tuesday afternoon, the time will be announced soon.

Redhawks look forward to finishing the regular season against #3 SPA

Minnehaha Academy, one of the original four soccer teams in the state of Minnesota, is looking strong as they enter their final regular season match up against long time foe and third ranked Saint Paul Academy and Summit School.

Minnehaha was dominant in front of their home crowd on a lively Saturday Homecoming afternoon defeating a quality team in Heritage Christian 3-1.  They suffered a bit of a let down, however, against unranked Mounds Park Academy, surviving 2-1 on a beautiful October day.

A win against SPA would assure the Redhawks a 3rd place finish in the Tri-Metro and a potential 2nd place or even conference title should SPA and DeLaSalle both falter .  Look for a scorching match up on Guido Kauls Field in South Minneapolis this Thursday afternoon.

Redhawks on 5 game win streak as they enter Homecoming Weekend

The Minnehaha Academy Redhawks enter their homecoming weekend and the final week of the regular season on a 5 game win streak beating St. Croix, St. Agnes and Providence in the last week.

The Redhawks struggled to find the net in a 1-0 victory at St. Croix Lutheran, yet found it often in an 8-0 win at St. Agnes.  The following week the Redhawks had another tough day in a 2-0 win at their home Guido Kauls Field on a humid afternoon.

The Redhawks play host to Herritage Christian on homecoming saturday (10/1) and then host Mounds Park and 3rd ranked Saint Paul Academy to round out the regular season.

CONTROVERSIAL CALL COSTS REDHAWKS A TIE 9/13

a controversial off side call which negated a Michael LeGrand goal in the first half on Tuesday eventually cost the Redhawks a much deserved tie at DeLaSalle.  Not ones to look for excuses, the team said they had their chances but failed to fully execute.

Later in the week, the Redhawks took out their frustrations on both Brooklyn Center and Richfield beating the two by scores of 8-1 and 5-1 respectively.  The week ahead sees them traveling to St. Croix and St. Agnes, before they're home against Providence and Heritage Christian for the October homecoming weekend.
