Sept. 17: The Millers have owned the recent series, but the Stars look to make a statement against a longtime foe.

Minneapolis Washburn and the Academy of Holy Angels have developed a healthy rivalry through the past four years, although it's been a lop-sided affair in favor of the Millers.

Washburn owns a 5-0 record against the Stars, including a 1-0 victory in the Class 1A, Section 3 semifinals three years ago.

While the results have been one-sided, the scores have been tight. The Millers have won each of the past three meetings 1-0 and there is no reason to believe that this season's bout will be any different.

Both teams have gotten off to fast starts this season, with Washburn opening with a 5-0-1 record and Holy Angels going 3-1.

Washburn dominated in Class 1A before moving to Class 2A last season, and the Millers have remained a force.

They enter the tilt with Holy Angels holding the No. 6 spot in the Class 2A coaches' poll. The Stars, who are coming off last year’s state tournament appearance, are ranked No. 5 in Class 1A.

This collision of budding rivals and state contenders makes this our pick for the Top Game of the Week.
