Four-time defending Class 2A, Section 1 champion Lakeville North kicks off the season visiting Class 1A state runner-up Minneapolis Washburn.

The Panthers were ranked No. 2 in last season's final poll provided by the Minnesota High School Soccer Coaching Association, but had their shot at the Class 2A title squashed with a 2-0 loss to Eden Prairie in the state semifinals.

Taylor Lock returns in goal for a Lakeville North team that finished with a 16-4-1 record and held opponents to just 14 total goals. The Panthers had 11 shutouts last year.

Minneapolis Washburn proved even stingier on defense, giving up just three goals. That defense helped propel the Millers to the Class 1A sate championship game, where they lost to Orono 1-0 and finished with a 20-1 record.
