Barlow will have to quickly make the transition from the pitch to the ice. The midfielder/forward on the girls’ soccer team also plays defense for the hockey squad. Here is a closer look at Barlow, who is also on the golf team in the spring:

Q The best movie you’ve seen in the last year?

A I have seen such a variety that it is hard to choose. I watched “The Shawshank Redemption” for the first time and loved it.

Q Three words your friends or teammates might use to describe you?

A Friendly, committed and intense.

Q Three songs you never skip on your iPod are …

A ... “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira; “On Top Of The World” by Imagine Dragons; and “Applause” by Lady Gaga.

Q At your first varsity practice, you felt …

A … super excited. I was pumped to have the opportunity to play with some awesome girls when I was in seventh and eighth grade.

Q What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A Scoring the winning goal in the Section 4 finals [a 1-0 victory over New Life Academy] to go to the Class 1A state tournament for the first time in the history of our school for girls’ soccer in 2011. Also, making it to the Class 1A hockey state tournament championship game two years in a row.

Q How do you balance school and sports during the year?

A I use my time wisely. I go to school, then practice, and then come home and do my homework. It’s important to keep myself disciplined in order to do well in school and sports.

Q Name one sport that you wish you could play, and why?

A I would play tennis because it’s really fun and it would be a different experience to compete in something that’s not a team performance. And, I would rock some really cute tennis outfits.
