Girls' Section 7: Princeton 2 Hermantown 1 (4-2 shootout)

The Princeton girls’ soccer team will play in its first ever state tournament after defeating Hermantown in a shootout in the Class 1A, Section 7 final. Top-seeded Princeton found the net quickly in the first half. But with 14 minutes left in the game, Hermantown’s Callie Hoff scored her 15th goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. After a scoreless overtime, Princeton came away with the win in a shootout.

Girls' Section 8: Sartell-St. Stephen 2, East Grand Forks 1

Despite being outshot 29-10, East Grand Forks went up 1-0 early in the first half of the Section 8 championship when Paige Hjelle slotted the ball to teammate Riley Koberinski who found the back of the net from 6 yards out.

Sartell evened the score 7 minutes into the second half. It was a penalty kick taken by Amanda Flemming that finally eluded East Grand Forks’ senior goalkeeper, Sam Rarick, who made 21 saves on the night.

Olivia Garner placed the final penalty kick that gave Sartell a victory in the shootout.
