The last meeting between Minnetonka and Wayzata was a wild one, to say the least.
In the first half, the Skippers' leading goal scorer Suad Suljic raced down the field for a ball but fell to the ground, grabbing his foot in agonizing pain. As it turns out, Suljic rolled his ankle and missed the rest of the game.
Top-ranked (Class 2A) Minnetonka (12-0-2, 5-0-2), however, rallied behind its reserves to score three goals in the final five minutes and emerge with a 4-2 road victory that preserved its undefeated record.
Suljic increased his season total to 14 goals after scoring in a Skippers' 2-0 win at Prior Lake and in a 2-2 tie with Eden Prairie last week.
No. 5 Wayzata (9-2-3, 3-1-2) still has an outside shot of tying Minnetonka for the Lake Conference title but the Trojans need to beat Eden Prairie on Tuesday to make our Top Game of the Week really interesting.
Clayton Smith leads Wayzata with eight goals.
