Wayzata takes its shot at stopping Minnetonka's unbeaten streak to open the season when the teams face off on Tuesday in a matchup that has more at stake than just an unblemished mark.

The winner gets an important league victory as both teams look to advance in the chase for the Lake Conference crown.

The Skippers (9-0-0), ranked No. 1 in the Minnesota State High School Coaching Association's Class 2A poll, are the top team in the league while Wayzata (6-0-3), No. 3 in Class 2A, trails by two games with five conference contests remaining, including another matchup with Minnetonka in the regular-season finale.

The Trojans' need to hold the Skippers' offense in check to win this game. Suad Suljic is Minnetonka's main threat. The junior forward has 11 goals and nine assists, ranking him among the state's best in both categories this season.

Clayton Smith is Wayzata's top offensive player. The senior midfielder has five goals and seven assists. The Trojans, however, are winning with defense. They have allowed only eight goals this season.

This rivalry means more than most this year and is the reason Minnetonka at Wayzata is the Top Game of the Week.
