Steiner has been a stalwart in goal for the Raiders’ boys’ soccer team throughout the years.

 

 

Steiner has been a stalwart in goal for the Raiders’ boys’ soccer team throughout the years. He also serves as a kicker for the football team.

He stays busy in the winter and spring, too, playing defense on the hockey team and serving as captain on the tennis squad.

Here is a closer look at Steiner, who carries a 4.0 grade-point average:

 

Q: The best movie I’ve seen in the past year?

A: “Miracle on Ice.”

 

Q: Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me?

A: Happy, leader and mentor.

 

Q: Three songs I never skip on my iPod are …

A: ...“Buzzin’ ” by Mann; “Classic” by MTKO; and “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by Def Leppard. I jam to those songs!

 

Q: To get focused for a game/match, I …

A: Sing to the music I’m listening to. My teammates don’t particularly like my pregame routine.

 

Q: What did you work on most in the offseason?

A: I focused on strength and agility. Also, I attempted to stretch myself upward to gain a few inches in height.

 

Q: What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A: My success with my doubles partner, Austin Houska, in tennis. We managed to come within one match of making the Class 2A state tournament.

 

Q: What are your goals for the 2014-15 school year as an athlete?

A: Have fun, work hard and help my teammates and I get better, thereby increasing the chance of a successful season.

 

Q: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?

A: I believe that high school athletes should get paid. Just kidding!
