The Lake Conference is dominating the soccer landscape. Some of the state's best teams and many of the metro's best games include schools from the league.

This week is no exception as Eden Prairie (6-0-0), ranked No. 4 in the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaching Association's Class 2A poll, visits No. 6 Wayzata on Thursday in our Top Game of the Week.

The Eagles (6-0-0) and the Trojans (4-0-2) are the Lake Conference's only ranked teams but the league's other three squads are hovering just outside the Top 10. Minnetonka, Hopkins and Edina are poised to rise in the rankings should Eden Prairie or Wayzata stumble.

Eden Prairie has been strong on defense all year, allowing just three goals in six games. The Eagles have taken down some elite competition, defeating Edina, defending state Class 2A champion Minnetonka and Woodbury.

April Bockin, a senior forward and Eagles' co-captain, leads Eden Prairie with seven goals and six assists.

The Trojans have been winning with offense all year, scoring 28 goals in six games. Ruby Stauber, a junior forward, is Wayzata's go-to scorer with 10 goals. The Trojans have been nearly as impressive on defense, allowing five goals.

Winning the Lake Conference is a badge of honor regardless of what happens the rest of the season, and the Eagles and the Trojans are expected to be in the mix.
