Sept. 4: Eastview travels to Burnsville as ranked teams face off in a South Suburban clash.

The South Suburban Conference is a girls' soccer power and the Minnesota High School Coaches Association's rankings provide evidence as to how strong the league is.

Eastview (No. 8 in the Class 2A poll) and Burnsville (No. 4-2A) are two of the conference's ranked teams and play in our Top Game of the Week on Thursday. Eagan (No. 5), Prior Lake (No. 7) and Lakeville North (No. 9) are also in the coaches' association poll. Rosemount (3-1-2) and Shakopee (4-0-0) are also two league teams starting out strong.

However, the Lightning (5-0-0) and Blaze (2-1-0) will likely be battling for the conference title.

Eastview is unblemished this season and has allowed one goal. The Lightning may not score as much as some of the other state powers but that could be a result of Eastview's schedule. The Lightning have nine goals in their five games and won two games 1-0.

The Blaze opened the season with a 3-1 loss to unranked Edina. Burnsville seems to have bounced back with a pair of 2-0 victories last week, including one against Mounds View (No. 2). The other victory was against traditional power Woodbury.
