FORWARDS

A.J. Albers, Eagan, sr.: He followed up a 14-goal season with 13 goals this year. He also had five assists for the 13-4-2 Wildcats.

Mario Aleman, Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony, sr.: A first team all-state selection by the coaches association the past three years, Aleman is a technically gifted player who is unselfish. Despite offers to join national and international soccer clubs, Aleman returned to the Panthers for his senior season.

Ellis Andrews, Wayzata, sr. The creative goal scorer led the Trojans to the Lake Conference crown. Andrews, out because of an injury at the start of the season, was a first team all-state selection the past two years.

Erick Bloom, Centennial, sr.: His blend of skill, size and speed make him an unstoppable forward. He scored six goals against Forest Lake and had a hat trick against Elk River.

Elliot Cassutt, Minneapolis South, jr.: A prolific goal scorer, Cassutt became more of an overall team player this year. He scored all three goals in a 3-2 victory over rival Southwest in a Minneapolis City Conference regular-season meeting.

Mathew Gweh, Eastview, jr.: The best player on the state's best team. The dynamic Gweh enters the state tournament with 23 goals, and at least one in eight of the past nine games.

MIDFIELDERS

Charlie Adams, Stillwater, sr.: The positive force quarterbacked one of the state's most solid programs. The Ponies finished the season with a 14-3-1 record.

Tyler Tumberg, Bloomington Jefferson, sr.: Tumberg was named the South Suburban Conference's top player. A loss in the section finals prevented him from starting on four consecutive state tournament teams.

DEFENDERS

Ben Sampson, Woodbury, sr.: He was steady for a program caught in a youth movement under Joe Quintavalle, the school's coach since 1991.

John Mulvahill, Benilde-St. Margaret's, sr.: He's a natural defender but can play any position. He is the Class 1A, No. 2 Red Knights' leading scorer with 16 goals and 12 assists.

GOALKEEPER

Connor Iverson, Anoka, sr.: A leader for the state-bound Tornadoes with a GAA of 0.77 on a team loaded with sophomores.
