Burnsville showed why it is the top seed in the Class 2A girls’ state soccer tournament today, controlling play for much of its quarterfinal match and dispatching Andover 3-0 at Park of Cottage Grove.

The Blaze (17-0-3) got a goals from Ashley St. Aubin in the 13th minute, Amanda Hartmann in the 42nd  and Hannah Mitby in the 75th to advance to a Tuesday semifinal at the Metrodome. Their opponent will be the winner of the Mahtomedi-Lakeville North match later tonight.

St. Aubin scored on a rebound of a shot by Abby Soderholm, getting her left foot on the ball before Andover goalkeeper Shelby Fehringer could retrieve. Soderholm also assisted on Hartmann’s goal, a 30-yard blast that nestled into the net just above Fehringer’s outstretched hands. Mitby put the game away by pouncing on a loose ball in front of the crease and driving it into the left side of the net.
