Benilde-St. Margaret's vs. St. Paul Academy
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3

After a 2-5-1 start, Benilde-St. Margaret’s has salvaged its season by posting six consecutive shutout victories. The No. 8-1A Red Knights punctuated their resurgence on Sept. 30 with a 1-0 victory over No. 5-1A Mahtomedi.

Claire Van der Heide scored the game-winning goal and Claire Grazzini made 14 saves to lead Benilde-St. Margaret’s (8-5-1, 4-2-0) to that important win over the Zephyrs.

Van der Heide has six goals this season, half of which have been game-winners during the Red Knights' winning streak.

St. Paul Academy has slain some giants this season, including topping No. 4-1A Blake 3-2 on Sept. 13, and Holy Angels 2-1 on Sept. 16.

The No. 3-1A Spartans (11-1, 4-0) reached the state tournament last year for the first time since 2004 and are positioned to make back-to-back appearances for the first time in nearly 30 years thanks to the play of Olivia Lagos (team-high 16 goals) and Hayley Hoffmann (11 goals). It won't be easy, as St. Paul Academy faces a difficult path through Class 1A, Section 3 which is home to foes such as Holy Angels.
