Hill-Murray vs. Mahtomedi
5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3

Defending Metro East Conference champion Mahtomedi will try to hold off Hill-Murray once again to repeat as the league’s top team. The Zephyrs' 1-0 win at the Pioneers in late September all but wrapped up last year's crown, and Tuesday's matchup will likely seal a league title for the winner.

Seeding for the Class 1A, Section 4 tournament will also be on the line for Mahtomedi (10-3-1, 5-0) and Hill-Murray (9-0-4, 5-0). The Pioneers shut out the Zephyrs 1-0 in last year’s section title game and went on to place third at the state tournament.

The No. 5-1A Zephyrs enter this season's contest off a 1-0 loss to No. 7-1A Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Sept. 30, a defeat that snapped an eight-game unbeaten streak.

The No. 2-1A Pioneers are riding high after a 3-2 win over No. 4-1A Blake on Sept. 23. Hill-Murray also beat Hastings and South St. Paul last week by a combined score of 12-1.

Sophomore Katherine Schindler scored four goals against Hastings, giving her a team-best 12 on the season.
