Burnsville at Eagan
5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26

The top spot in the South Suburban Conference will be on the line when Burnsville meets Eagan on Tuesday. Both teams enter the week at 5-0 in league play, but the Wildcats (8-1, 5-0) will come into the meeting after facing No. 2-2A Minneapolis Washburn the previous day.

Eagan fell a game shy of winning the South Suburban crown last year, ending a two-year run as champions. The No. 5-2A Wildcats are in the hunt again this season and are unbeaten in league play, including 1-0 wins over Lakeville South on Sept. 12 and Eastview a week later.

Kayla Vrieze had a goal and three assists in Eagan’s 6-2 victory over Apple Valley on Sept. 21 and has shown a scorer’s touch this season, including five goals against North St. Paul on Sept. 5 in an 11-0 win.

The Blaze (9-2, 5-0) seek their first conference championship since 2013, which is also the last year they reached the state tournament. Burnsville has been eliminated in the Class 2A, Section 3 playoffs by a state finalist the past three years -- including twice by Eagan (2014, 2015).

Morgan Keirstead, an Augustana commit who was a 2015 second team all-state selection, will try to lead the No. 7-2A Blaze back to state this season. She has 11 goals and nine assists and is complemented by Maya Hansen, a 13-goal scorer who has nine assists on the year.

Burnsville enters the week after recording a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Lakeville South on Sept. 21. Rachel Waterman scored twice in the second half to erase a 2-1 deficit and seal the Blaze's victory.
