Anoka at Maple Grove
1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23

Anoka has held its own against the Northwest Suburban Conference this season, but it faces two of its biggest tests this week with games against No. 8-2A Centennial and No. 3-2A Maple Grove. Victories over both could keep the Tornadoes’ conference title hopes alive.

Anoka, which tied 2-2 with No. 4-6A Andover on Aug. 29, has relied on its depth and has 13 different goal scorers this season. Emma Stange leads the Tornadoes (6-1-2, 5-0-2) with four goals and three assists.

Maple Grove dropped its first match of the season on Sept. 16 -- a 2-0 loss to No. 2-2A Minneapolis Washburn. But the Crimson (8-1, 7-0) have shown no slowing within the Northwest Suburban. Maple Grove beat rival Centennial 3-2 on Sept. 12 after Meredith Haakenson scored twice and Mia Omar, a Florida Atlantic recruit, added a goal.

Centennial defeated the Crimson for last year’s Class 2A, Section 5 title.
