Burnsville deservedly started receiving votes in the Class 2A poll two weeks ago. The Blaze (5-1, 1-0) have posted wins over DeLaSalle (2-0), Edina (3-1) and Minneapolis Southwest (6-1). The lone loss, a 5-2 final, came Aug. 31 to No. 2-2A Minneapolis Washburn. Burnsville responded with a 5-0 win over Prior Lake and a 6-0 win over Rochester Century.

Maya Hansen had three goals against Minneapolis Southwest and has led the team in scoring. Not far behind is Morgan Keirstead, who has six goals and seven assists.

The No. 10-2A Bears picked up big wins over Eastview (2-1) on Aug. 26 and 1-0 win over No. 5-1A Mahtomedi on Aug. 29. Edina escaped with a 1-0 win Saturday over White Bear Lake (3-2, 1-0) but the Bears are expected to make serious runs at the Suburban East Conference and Class 2A, Section 4 titles this year.

Claire Odmark, the leading scorer, has six goals and two assists, and Kayla Anderson has three goals and three assists for the Bears, who seek their first state tournament berth in five years.
