Bemidji vs. Detroit Lakes
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29

Play in the Lakes to Prairie Conference has already started, and it heats up this week with a Bemidji-Detroit Lakes matchup on Tuesday.

Bemidji made it all the way to the Class 1A state tournament last season, and it is looking to emulate that success this season. So far so good for the Lumberjacks (1-0), as they opened their schedule with a dominant 12-0 conference win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley last Thursday. Sophomore Silas Hess and senior Linaes Whiting led the scoring parade with three goals apiece.

The Lakers (0-2) have not had the same success to start their season. They’ve played two nonconference games and have yet to gain any points, with losses coming against Fergus Falls (3-2) and Alexandria (3-1) last week.

They start their conference season hosting the Lumberjacks. Will they be able to find success against league opponents, or will their early season woes continue? It'll be up to return players such as junior midfielder Jackson Carlblom to help turn things around before it's too late.
