Rosemount vs. Stillwater
5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1

Rosemount, which is ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A preseason coaches' poll, graduated three all-state players from last year’s state runner-up team, but junior Jadyn Scholler returns after leading the Irish with 13 goals. Just six seniors graduated from a squad that went 17-2-2.

Jasmine Finley scored the game-winner to help the Irish (1-1) start this season with a 1-0 victory on Friday over Andover, last season's Class 2A third-place finisher. Rosemount struggled to score a day later in a 2-0 loss to Duluth East.

Danielle Kniefel and Lauren Spindler have split time in net as the Irish try to find a replacement for graduated all-state goalkeeper Margaret Tulay.

Stillwater graduated a dynamic scorer in Kallie Clements, who finished with 14 goals last season. However, it appears the Ponies (1-0) won’t have trouble filling the void as Hannah Beech scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Anoka in the season opener on Aug. 25.

Olivia Knox and Megan Howard each added a goal for the Ponies, who finished with a 16-3 record last fall following a loss to East Ridge in the Class 2A, Section 4 title game.
