Hopkins vs. Edina
5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5

Hopkins and Edina are chasing Wayzata for a Lake Conference title, and both need to sweep this series to remain in the hunt. In a twist, the team face each other on consecutive days, beginning Wednesday in Edina.

The teams were originally scheduled to play Sept. 15 but that game was rescheduled for the day before their meeting in Hopkins on Thursday, giving the race for the Lake Conference another wrinkle.

The Royals (8-4-1, 3-2) have gone 1-2-1 in their past four games, including a 3-1 loss to Wayzata, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A in the Minnesota High School Soccer Coaches Association poll.

The No. 8-2A Hornets (9-3-1, 3-2-1) ended a four-game winning streak with a 5-2 loss to No. 4-2A East Ridge on Oct. 1.

Both teams will need some help in chasing down Wayzata (10-2-1, 4-2) and they just might get from Eden Prairie and Minnetonka, the Trojans' final opponents of the season.

The Skippers are an added beacon of hope, having already defeated the Trojans once this season.
