Buffalo vs. Monticello
5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6

Monticello assumed the top spot in the Mississippi 8 Conference standings after an overtime victory against Rogers on Saturday, adding greater significance to this week's meeting with Buffalo.

If both teams win their remaining conference contests, Thursday's league finale will determine which takes home the league title, or if it's shared.

The Magic (12-2, 7-0) have won eight straight and are accustomed to finishing games strong, scoring 30 of their 37 total goals in the second half.

The Bison (6-4-1, 6-0-1) will have two games (one nonconference) and a practice to prepare for the league frontrunners. They will look to ride their four-game winning streak, where they’ve outscored competition 17-2, into the contest.

Buffalo won last year’s meeting 2-0, but the emergence of Monticello's Jacob Keller could give the Bison trouble. The freshman has scored at least once in seven of the Magic’s past eight wins.
