Orono vs. Blake
7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6

Defending Class 1A state champion Orono visits Blake on Thursday, which should be a competitive tuneup for two teams that have already clinched their respective league titles and are in pursuit of playoff hardware and a trip to U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Spartans (11-0-2, 6-0) are unbeaten and have held their top spot in the Class 1A rankings all season, posting a state-high 58 goals.

Guyvenson Mohs (18-5-41) has notched multiple points in all but four games this season for Orono.

Blake (10-3-1, 4-0-1) was unrated entering the season but has risen to No. 7 in Class 1A after going unbeaten in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference, including a draw against No. 2-1A Breck -- last year’s state runner-up and rolling No. 6-1A St. Paul Academy.
