Irondale at Maple Grove
5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27

Irondale dropped its first five games of the season but has since gone unbeaten, and the Knights can improve their reputation with good showing against three teams chasing the Northwest Suburban Conference crown, starting with Maple Grove on Tuesday.

Games with No. 3-1A Totino-Grace and defending Class 2A state champion Anoka follow the Crimson matchup, but the task may not be as daunting for an Irondale team that upset No. 8-2A Andover 3-2 on Sept. 15. The Knights offense has improved lately and is averaging 3.1 goals in its last seven games.

Ibrahim Maameri has a team-high 11 goals, while freshman Carlos Momsen has been a revelation for the Knights (4-5-3, 3-3-3), scoring in six of their past seven games.

Maple Grove picked up two wins last week by a combined score of 9-0.

Ryan Debois leads the Crimson (7-3-1, 5-3-1) with 14 goals and five assists this season.
