Edina vs. Wayzata
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27

A big week in the Lake Conference kicks off Tuesday as Wayzata tries to wrap up the league title.

The No. 1-2A Trojans (9-1-1, 3-1) face No. 7-2A Edina on Tuesday and then meet co-conference leader and Hopkins Thursday in a game that could give the victor the outright lead in the Lake standings.

Wayzata’s nine-game unbeaten streak ended with a 3-1 loss to Minnetonka on Sept. 20, but the team bounced back four days later to defeat No. 15-2A Cretin-Derham Hall 2-0. The Trojans face the No. 12-2A Skippers, who also own a share of first place in the Lake standings, in the regular-season finale on Oct. 8.

Edina already as a 2-0 loss to Wayzata this season and can't afford another if it wants to maintain hope of running down the leaders in the Lake. The Hornets, who have a meeting with Minnetonka on Thursday, enter week on a two-game winning streak, including a 2-0 win over No. 1-1A Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Sept. 20.

Sophia Boman and Sarah Doran scored for Edina (7-2-1, 1-2-1) in a 2-0 victory over Eden Prairie on Sept. 22.
