Woodbury vs. East Ridge
5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13

Crosstown rivals Woodbury and East Ridge renew their ongoing feud Tuesday in a Suburban East Conference battle.

The Royals' attack has struggled early this season, scoring multiple goals in just one of its first five games (a 2-1 win over Andover on Aug. 27), but it appears the offense may be hitting its stride after a 4-0 victory over Roseville last week.

A 1-0 win over Hill-Murray two days earlier may have sparked the turnaround for Woodbury (4-2, 1-1), as Rachel Hewitt scored the game-winner on a free kick to end the Royals' two-game skid.

Winning three in a row won't be easy, as the No. 4-2A Raptors boast a stingy defense that gives them an excellent chance to supplant their rival as the premier program in Woodbury and take over the top spot in the Suburban East standings.

East Ridge (5-1, 1-0) has allowed just two goals this season, including one in a 2-1 victory over No. 8-2A Stillwater last week. The Raptors could enter this matchup primed to show they are one of the top teams in the state after falling to No. 4-2A Rosemount 1-0 on Sept. 6 and finishing in a 0-0 draw with No. 5-2A Eagan last Saturday.

However, history reveals that East Ridge holds no advantage in the series with Woodbury. The last three meetings have ended in ties and the Raptors own just one win in the series.
