Academy of Holy Angels at Hermantown
3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2

Hermantown has reached the Class 1A, Section 7 championship the past three years, but it hasn’t broken through to secure the program’s first trip to the state tournament.

The Hawks hope there will be a different outcome this postseason, and they can receive a boost to their confidence with a victory over a ranked Holy Angels team.

Callie Hoff is another reason Hermantown has a legitimate shot at reaching state. The senior is a deadly scorer who had 31 goals last year.

Holy Angels ended a seven-year absence from the state tournament last year but couldn't advance after falling to Princeton in the state quarterfinals. The No. 6-1A Stars opened this season with a 1-0 win over Breck before losing to No. 3-1A Totino-Grace 2-1.
