Minneapolis Southwest at Eagan
7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30

After being swept by Eagan in last year's opener, Minneapolis Southwest looks to avoid a repeat when the Lakers begin this season in a rematch with the Wildcats.

Southwest brings back every player from a year ago, including a trio of all-Minneapolis City Conference selections in senior outside hitter April Houston, junior right side hitter Lily Landis and senior libero Fola Wilson. Gabby McCaa, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, was named to the 2015 Under Armour Phenom Watch List and could be the difference this time against a potent Eagan team.

The No. 1-3A Wildcats have all the tools to not only make their fourth straight Class 3A state tournament appearance but win their third championship since 2013.

All-state senior setter Brie Orr is back, joined by three outside hitters who earn all-South Suburban Conference honors last year in senior Taylor Olstad and juniors Ally Murphy and McKenna Melville.
