Kara Bean scored the game’s only goal on a rebound in the second half as the Eagles blanked the Trojans 1-0 on Thursday to advance to the Class 2A semifinals.

Eden Prairie’s goal came moments after a corner kick, which was set up by a one-on-three rush Bean had toward the Wayzata net. Her shot was stopped but it set up a corner kick for the Eagles (14-3-3). On the ensuing kick the ball bounced to Bean, who fired it past Wayzata keeper Kendall Koenen.

“I just saw the goal and a bunch of people,” Bean said. “I just kind of whacked it.”

The two teams split their regular-season matches, with each team winning one. Wayzata (14-5-1) entered Thursday’s game as the No. 4 seed, but was evenly matched throughout the contest by No. 5 Eden Prairie.

With the victory, the Eagles now face top-seeded Lakeville North on Monday in St. Cloud.
