Eagan at Rosemount
7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8

Eagan has navigated its way through a difficult South Suburban Conference schedule to give itself a chance at securing the league title when it meets Rosemount.

The Wildcats (8-3-3, 5-1-1) need a win over Apple Valley or an Irish (9-2-2, 6-1) loss against Burnsville on Tuesday to get that opportunity.

After starting with a 7-0-2 record, Rosemount lost to Eastview (3-0) and No. 3-2A Edina (4-0) in back-to-back games. The Irish bounced back for a 2-0 win over Lakeville North on Sept. 29 and a 2-1 victory over Apple Valley on Oct. 1.

Rosemount can lock up the conference title by winning out its final two games.

The sixth-seeded Irish upset second-seeded Eagan 2-1 in the Class 2A, Section 3 tournament last season, and it’s possible the two teams could meet in the postseason this year
