Maple Grove at Anoka
7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8

These Northwest Suburban Conference foes meet for the first time since Anoka knocked off Maple Grove 2-1 in overtime in the Class 2A state tournament semifinals when Felipe Genchi scored in the 92nd minute.

The victory ended the Crimson’s 20-game winning streak and dashed their state title hopes. The Tornadoes went on to win the state title with a 2-1 victory over Wayzata in the championship.

Maple Grove won last year’s regular-season meeting 5-1.

The Crimson have gone 1-1-2 in their last four games and wrap up the regular season with games against Andover on Oct. 5 and No. 4-1A Breck on Oct. 10.

Connor Schaaf leads No. 5-2A Anoka (10-3, 8-2) with 10 goals. Donnie Guimont and Blake Doyea each have seven for the Tornadoes, who have won their last six games.
