Minnetonka at Wayzata
1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19

Eden Prairie’s 2-1 upset of Minnetonka will reverberate around the metro for a while. The Skippers, who dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 in the Class 2A rankings, must get back to work with a tough Lake Conference matchup at No. 9-2A Wayzata on Sept. 19.

Minnetonka took a 1-0 lead on the Eagles when Alejandro Ferrer scored on a header from Suad Suljic in the first half. But Eden Prairie tied the game four minutes into the second half and added a goal off a free kick with eight minutes left to send the Skippers to their first regular-season loss since Sept. 26, 2013.

Minnetonka bounced back by defeating No. 4-2A Edina 2-1 on Sept. 12 with Suljic scoring both goals.

The Trojans have one of the state's toughest schedules, but stay in games with a defense that also one of the best. Wayzata’s played to three ties (1-1 with both No. 3-2A Mounds View and St. Louis Park and a 0-0 with Edina). The lone loss for the Trojans came against Minneapolis South, which won 2-1.
