Woodbury at Roseville
5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10

Roseville’s off to a strong start with a 3-1 record and have already matched last year’s win total. The Raiders only loss came to No. 7-2A Centennial, which won 2-0 in the second game of the season.

The quick start is encouraging for Roseville, which hasn’t had a winning season since 2012.

The Raiders will get tested in their next four games, beginning with a home match against Woodbury. Roseville also faces No. 3-1A Blake, Park of Cottage Grove and No. 5-2A Mounds View.

Kaylee Nelson, Annika Schmidt and Kaia Porter each scored in Roseville's season-opening 3-1 win over Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village. Schmidt tallied the game-winner against Hastings in a 1-0 victory while Porter and Drea Barnes scored in a 2-1 win over North St. Paul.

Woodbury, a longtime model of consistency that has five state titles in 12 appearances, has gotten off to a slow start against two ranked Class 2A teams.

After starting the season with a 1-0 win over Andover, the Royals (1-2) fell to No. 2 Eden Prairie 1-0 and No. 4 Eastview 3-0.
