Eagan at Lakeville North
5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10

In another game worthy of being our top game, No. 1-2A Eagan faces No. 3-2A Lakeville North in a South Suburban Conference showdown.

Both teams might wind up meeting again in the state tournament with the way things have gone so far.

The defending Class 2A state champion Wildcats (4-0) have won their first four games comfortably aside from an early deficit against South St. Paul in the season opener.

Eagan also ranks No. 3 nationally in the USA Today/National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll thanks to Texas Tech recruit Jade King, Taylor Kenealy and Gabby Bland.

King, a first team all-state selection, leads the team with six goals and four assists while Kenealy, also an all-state first team selection, has two goals and three assists. Bland has three goals on the season.

The Panthers (3-0) have looked impressive in defeating Minneapolis Washburn 2-1 in the season opener and notching a 2-0 win over No. 6-2A Wayzata.

The offense is coming from all over for Lakeville North as six players have scored this season. Olivia Bruce leads the team with three goals and scored both in the win over the Trojans.

The Wildcats won last year’s meeting 2-0 but face their biggest challenge of this season with a road game against the Panthers.
