Wayzata at Lakeville North
5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1

Wayzata will be without first team all-state selection Ruby Stauber, chose to focus on her track career.

The senior finished second in the 800-meter run this summer at the USA Track and Field Junior National Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She also broke the 29-year-old record in the event at the Class 2A state meet in June, finishing more than two seconds faster than the old mark with her time of 2 minutes, 6.5 seconds.

Stauber scored 17 goals and had 10 assists last season for Wayzata, which turns to Morgan Turner to help pick up the offense. Turner finished second on the team in scoring last year.

Wayzata comes into the game after routing No. 4-1A St. Paul Academy 6-2 in the season opener. Turner scored three goals and had an assist, while Addison Clark had two goals and an assist and Lily Gilbertson added a goal for the Trojans.

Turner continued her torrid start to the season with three goals in a 4-0 home win over St. Louis Park on Aug. 29. Gilbertson also added a goal in the win.

No. 3-2A Lakeville North faces Wayzata after opening with another tough opponent. The Panthers opened the season Aug. 27 with a 2-1 victory over Minneapolis Washburn, last year's Class 1A runner-up, behind goals from Hannah Cade and Gillian Hedberg.

Rachel Preston, Lauren Witte, Olivia Bruce and Alexis Tousignant each scored in Lakeville North's 4-0 victory over Owatonna two days later.

The Trojans and the Panthers tied 2-2 last season.
