Rosemount at Park of Cottage Grove
7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31

Rosemount returns six key contributors from last year, including goalie Michael Urban and captains Sam Heupel and Michael Anderson. Alex Notch, Colin Mitchell and Jacob Schuelke also are back for the Irish, who are No. 15 in the Class 2A rankings from the Minnesota High School Soccer Coaching Association.

Daniel Sampers, Samuel Cuevas and Chris Giere each had a goal as the Irish kicked off the season with a 3-0 win over Bloomington Kennedy on Aug. 27. Rosemount played to a 1-1 tie with Simley in Inver Grove Heights two days later.

Nine players return for Park of Cottage Grove, a team that put together an 11-5-3 record and ended last year ranked No. 8 in the final Class 2A rankings after reaching the section championship for the first time in 17 years.

It was a Renaissance season for the Wolfpack, who went a combined 10-23-3 the previous two years.

Park has experience throughout its lineup with attacker Alex Hajovy and midfielders Peyton Boich, Jack Wagner and Brady Abrahamson returning. Ryan Zamora and Jake Goecke join four-year starter Yemi Adewola to solidify the defense.

Hajovy scored two goals and Sam Jaworski added another as Park rallied from a one-goal deficit to defeat Burnsville 3-1 in the season opener.
